The term Tripindi is a compound of two words, 'Tri' means 'three' and 'Pind'
means offerings to the departed souls of Pitru/Pitr or ancestors. The Pind
is made of a mixture of boiled rice, black sesame seeds, Barley flour, Ghee
(clarified butter). Tripindi Shraddha is a ritual or pooja wherein the
offerings or Pind Daan are made to the ancestors of the past three (tri)
generations. It is believed that the departed souls of ancestors who had an
accidental death of any kind, be it a car accident, bitten by a poisonous
animal, murder, etc., or who died with unfulfilled desires exert their
influence (Pitru Dosha in Kundli) on their descendants in the family for
their souls to get liberated. This Tripindi Shradha aims to appease the
departed ancestors who reside in the Preta Yoni (like ghosts) because their
family members fail to offer Shraadh to them.

Tripindi Shraddh aims to pacify, honor, and liberate their souls to move
ahead in their onward journey in the other world and get free from the pangs
of the material world. In this puja, forgiveness for the souls of ancestors
is asked for from Divine. The Shraadh ritual turns more auspicious and
beneficial if performed in the Pitrapaksh of the month of Bhadrapada
(Sept-Oct). As per the Shastras or ancient Hindu scriptures, it is better if
one periodically offers Shraadh to their ancestors on their death
anniversary. When Shradha Puja is not done for three consecutive years then
Tripindi Shraddh Puja should be offered so that the souls of one's ancestors
can rest in peace. Apart from this, it benefits the individual performing
this ritual and his/her family with blessings of the ancestors, peace,
removal of obstacles, and many other such blessings. Both married and
unmarried people can perform the Tripindi puja Trimbakeshwar. The Vidhi of
Tripindi Shraddha should be performed by a qualified, suitable Pandit.

Trimbak Temple, Trimbakeshwar, is an ancient and famous temple of Supreme
Lord Shiva where many pujas, religious rites, and rituals are performed. The
Trimbak Temple is one of the auspicious 12 Jyotirlingas, in India. Ancient
scriptures such as Dharma Sindhu mention that the religious rites and
rituals for pacifying the departed souls and for relieving oneself of Kaal
Sarpa Dosha should be performed only at Trimbakeshwar, a fact corroborated
in the Skanda Purana and Padma Purana. Tripindi Shradha Puja must be done at
Trimbak Temple, as the temple has superior cosmic vibrations and so gives
the best result of the puja and benefits of this Shradha. The presence of
three Lingams inside the Trimbak temple, which denote the Divine Trinity of
Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesha (Shiva), makes this temple sacred and special.
The ancient images of different Vedic deities such as Gangadevi, Jaleswara,
Rameswara, Gautameswara, Kedarnath, Rama, Krishna, Parasurama, and Lakshmi
Narayana. These unique features of lingams and deities make the Temple
vibrant with cosmic energy which naturally nullifies the negative energies
											(Dosha, Karmic rections etc.)
Therefore, it makes Trimbakeshwar Tripindi Pooja, a more effective ancestral
puja, in comparison to other places where it is performed.

Moreover, in Trimbak Temple, Lord Shiva is the presiding deity. The Divine
nature of Lord Shiva has been described
by the Prajapatis in the Bhagavat Purana (8.7.22). Lord Shiva was requested
to save the world when the deadliest
poison Halahala emerged during the Churning of the Ocean (Samudra Manthana)

											त्वमेकः सर्वजगत ईश्वरो बन्धमोक्षयोः । तं त्वामर्चन्ति कुशलाः प्रपन्नार्तिहरं
											गुरुम् ॥ २२ ॥

The Prajapatis said to Shiva: "O Lord, you are the cause of bondage and
liberation of the entire universe because you
are its ruler. Those who are advanced in spiritual consciousness surrender
unto you, and therefore you are the cause of
mitigating their distresses, and you are also the cause of their liberation.
											We, therefore, worship Your Lordship."

At the request of the Prajapatis, demigods, and other heavenly
personalities, Lord Shiva considered it His duty to
protect and keep safe all living entities struggling for existence. Without
hesitation, Lord Shiva drank the whole
poison thereby saving each and every living being. This event indicates that
it is only Lord Shiva who liberates the
sinned from the reactions of their Karma. It is Lord Shiva only who
liberates the suffering living beings. Lord Shiva
purifies the malicious and rectifies the Dosha of any sort. Therefore, the
Tripindi Shraddh Puja performed at Trimbak
Temple is highly rewarding and auspicious.
